Painting Classes In The Beautiful Sculpture Garden At Sierra

Happy Artists

My classes are all about learning, experimenting, and having fun in a relaxed, encouraging environment. The spirit of the day is to let go, explore your creativity, and enjoy painting with acrylics.

Along the way, I introduce a little Plein Air history, along with the fundamentals of composition, color theory, and value scales. We also practice a grid contour drawing exercise, and you'll leave with the knowledge, techniques, and tools to continue creating art at home.

Best of all, everyone completes a finished painting that's ready to pop into a frame and hang with pride—a beautiful reminder of a day spent creating, learning, and discovering your artistic side.

The smiles on everyone's faces at the end of the day say it all!

I truly enjoy working with every one of my students. The friendships, conversations, and connections that naturally develop while we paint are one of the most rewarding parts of teaching. Watching students discover their creativity and leave with a sense of accomplishment is what makes every class so special.

There is something truly special about meeting someone who has never painted before and watching them come alive through the creative process. Seeing that spark of confidence and excitement is one of the greatest rewards of teaching.

My new friend, Chris, had never picked up a paintbrush before, and by the end of the class she was absolutely thrilled with what she had created. So was I! It isn't always easy to let go, trust the process, and simply enjoy the experience, but Chris embraced the journey. Her confidence grew with every brushstroke, and the result was a beautifully loose, vibrant painting that reflected both her creativity and her willingness to explore.

Moments like these remind me that everyone has an artist within them—sometimes they just need a little encouragement to let it shine.
